CREATIVE CATEGORY:
When judging the Creative Category evaluate images based on the following criteria:
· Technique and Execution: How successfully does the technique support the creative message?
· Composition & Design: Consider balance, flow, use of color, shape, texture, etc.
· Impact/Interest: Does the image grab attention, spark thought, stir emotion?
Listed below is South Towns’ definition of the Creative/Artistic Category:
Creative/Artistic photography is producing an image through the use of imaginative skill, originality of thought, and/or the altering of reality. Creative/Artistic images may include modifications on the computer or in the camera, as well as unusual points of view, imaginative use of subject matter or lighting, or any other presentation. Images must begin with the maker's photograph or a collection of the maker's photographs. Images are judged for their technical and pictorial merit and originality of concept. The content is unrestricted except where standard club rules apply.
PACE AND TIME LIMIT GUIDELINES:
Balance a fair evaluation with efficient pacing so the competition moves smoothly, and participants feel their work is given thoughtful consideration.
VIEWING DISTANCE:
Please view all images from seven feet away. Judges may view certain images closer to assess specific details on a case-by-case basis in consultation with a club officer.
